Technology plays a huge role in cultural imperialism. Subliminal messages found in all types of media such as Magazines, books, television commercials advertise products but some are made to specifically promote life styles and to glorify American cultures. Music that has a certain target audience is brainwashing many youths into thinking that it is ok to tolerate violence. This music then goes further by having videos that glorify criminal lifestyles and values. Millions of youths then conform to these artists views maybe without knowing it but because since they saw it on television it must be ok after all those artists they are conforming to are millionaires. Technology has a great and powerful impact and propaganda because everyday new methods of getting the message across to society are being developed these methods include advertising through emails, television commercials, magazines, and even bus stops are now built with huge posters advertising food or television shows. Once a person steps on a bus they are bombarded with countless advertisements that are put right in front of a passenger’s face. This is an example of technologies role in the imposition of foreign cultures to a nation or cultural imperialism.

Technology has to have more humanistic qualities and ethics in it and then only will it not be a danger to humans and lead us as a society to Eden and not lead us to apocalypse. An example of Techniques and technologies affect on nature, from the beginning at the pre-industrial society to the end at the technological society is the rainforest. Decades ago rainforests were very fresh and natural and considered sacred, decades passed and the inhabitants of the rainforest like tigers and monkeys were being killed for their furs and sold for many purposes. Nature is exploited by new industry and more recently in technological society rainforest that are a part of nature are being cut down for their lumber or to make way for business and cities. Technique is unstoppable because there will always be a need for lumber and some people will always want tiger fur.

Technology has and will continue to change the way we live because it is a part of cultural Imperialism. The internet will not play as big of a role as music and television but it will have the same effect as these Medias only because these types of media’s are small pieces in the huge picture of the World Wide Web. The reason for the internet playing a smaller role in cultural imperialism is because the internet is a resource shared by millions across the globe. Many honest views and opinions can be shared on sites like “you tube” these views can be about any subject and are not infected by corporations selling their products. This is why we believe the ones responsible for cultural imperialism will have a hard time controlling it.

The United States of America needs to export a lot more products to countries like Japan and China to correct this problem.  The fact that if the US dollar goes down in value then the dollar of every other country goes down is proof of this problem.  American society’s dependence on the low prices of Asian-made goods has been a good thing because many people find use for these electronics etc, but this has been too much of a good thing because the amount of dollars outside the US could lead to disaster.

In the world there are several reasons that cause of global warming. I believe that the main ones are pollution and population. Pollution is on going for many countries and will continue to do so in the future. This is mainly because some countries cannot afford to spend money on the various technologies to help cut pollution. It’s more so for developing countries and this is a major world problem. Pollution and Population play a very big role in the world towards our major problems that the world is trying very hard to fight. The reason why these two roles connect is simply because the more population there is in the world; the more people are going to be contributing to pollution. Global warming means the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s surface, air and oceans, this increase has been closely observed by many scientists who believe this problem will get worse before it gets better especially if no action is taken now. Ironically pollution is one of the main causes for Global warming. Another major man made cause of Global Warming is population this is because more people on the planet leads to more food being needed and more ways of transportation for these new people which can lead to an increase in the burning of fossil fuels. We are slowly starting to fix this problem by polluting less.

Pollution is a problem in some of the biggest countries in the world such as India, China and the United States. Pollution has obvious effects that most people know about, one being hole in he Ozone lair which allows harmful UV rays to get through these rays can cause cancer and other illness’s. Some air pollutants harm plants and animals directly. Other pollutants harm the habitat, food or water that plants and animals need to survive. Damage due to acid rain kills trees and other wildlife. Acid rain can destroy the leaves of plants as well. The two main sources of pollutants in urban areas are transportation (automobiles) and fuel combustion in residential homes also, commercial, and industrial heating and cooling and coal-burning power plants. Motor vehicles produce high levels of carbon monoxides and fuel combustion in stationary sources is the source of sulfur dioxide. The world pollution problem is directly related to American lifestyle an example of this is the millions of people who choose to drive there S.U.V’S to work everyday alone in big vehicle like that, that same person could take public transportation, ride a bike, or offer to drive co-workers, all these alternatives would be saving our planet and help stop pollution. This life style relates to technology because car manufactures are trying to do their part to help Mother Nature. Many new cars and SUVS run on bio-diesel which is safe for our environment but it is ultimately up to consumers to change their lifestyles to conform to these new technologies.

These problems along with others will definitely affect the American Life style. Because of overpopulation, we are using our natural resources way faster. The American Lifestyle definitely has relations with the way our world’s problems have developed up to this decade. Women in countries like china are only allowed to have no more than 2 kids alternative solutions like these are freeing us from these problems.

My thought is that technology is leading us as a society to Eden. Technology has changed the way we live in the following ways; Technology has and always will be making our lives more and more efficient. Efficiency is the process of getting the job or task done as fast as possible with minimal time and effort and with no regard to nature or the well being of humans. A person at an assembly line would be careful in handling the product as to where a technological machine would pick it up and throw it where it belongs. We have to know where to draw the line, when we let technology change our lives, for example a person wouldn’t want a machine performing heart surgery instead of a doctor because the doctor would be sympathetic towards the patient something that a technological machine can’t do.

 Technology has changed the way we live forever because we are now considered a Technological society. Jacques Ellul “who found the 20th century to be dehumanizing”,1 who is a major philosopher of technology would find the 21st century technology even worse. Ellul feels that technological society will not give us freedom and happiness because it only exists to expand technology. Inefficiency is something no business can afford, no society can afford either. Ellul said that “efficiency is no longer an option but a necessity imposed on all human activity.” He believed that people were losing their freedom to decide because they had to obey the demands of technological efficiency. An example of this is, being able to reach someone on their cell phone twenty four hours a day. For the technological society, Ellul said that techniques like efficiency, rule the world. This basically just means that technology has such a big impact on society and culture.
